The Malvern Hills
Updated: Apr 6, 2020
With the weather looking so good again this weekend, George and I decided to check out a place that's been on our list for a little while. The Malverns are just over an hours drive from where we live, so ideal to explore on a day trip.
After a quick stop to pick up some supplies for a picnic we were on our way. We researched a walking route before leaving so we knew where we were headed. We parked up at the British Camp car park, opposite the Malvern Hills Hotel.
It wasn't a long walk (only 5.5 km), but my goodness the hills. I don't think at any point we were on level ground, it's either uphill or downhill. But don't let that put you off because the views are so worth it.
I really have a soft spot for the English countryside, there's nowhere quite like it, and on a sun soaked day it's simply glorious. These hills are covered in foxgloves at this time of year.
After all that hiking up and down we were in serious need of a fuel up, and I knew the perfect picnic spot!
About 20 minutes drive away is Croome Court, a National Trust owned mansion surrounded by gorgeous gardens and parkland.
Cue crusty bread, pâté, cured meats and dolmades. We spread our blanket out in the middle of all the flowers and enjoyed our well earned feast.
I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
