Summer in London

Updated: Jun 18, 2019

As I mentioned in this post, my sister Hannah and I recently spent a few days in London. We stayed in Kensington, at the gorgeous Kensington Hotel (I actually won a stay via Instagram), which made the perfect base for exploring Notting Hill.

On the Saturday we got up and enjoyed breakfast at the hotel before heading out onto the sunny streets towards Portobello Road.

Where I was so engrossed in all the treasures for sale that I barely took a single photo. If you're in Notting Hill on a Saturday make time in your plans for this historic London market, but be prepared for big crowds!

We had afternoon plans to meet up with some friends on Clapham Common (which only took us four tubes to reach - not our best planning!), but we soon forgot our sticky train rides once we had a glass of crisp white wine in hand. It seemed half of London were splayed out in the summer sun with us.

It was all too soon to drag ourselves back off the grass, to head to our early pre-theatre dinner reservations.

In Knightsbridge you'll find Harry's Dolce Vita. A gorgeous little Italian serving great wine and even better pizzas. The fact it's right next to Harrod's also makes for excellent people watching, we snagged a table outside and did just that.

That evening we went to see The Lion King in The West End, which we were so excited about. I cried as soon as the music started, the cast blew me away with their choreography and vocals. A really special evening.

Afterwards we dropped into Kettner's Townhouse, our favourite bar in Soho, for midnight drinks.

We slept in on Sunday before checking out of our hotel. We spent the day in the Shoreditch and Hoxton area, kicking off with brunch at The Blues Kitchen.

The menu is a crowd pleaser and we had such such good service, definitely a winner.

Last in our jam-packed weekend itinerary was a meet up with some of Hannah's friends at the Queen of Hoxton. A wonderful little rooftop bar that serves killer Aperol Spritz.

Denim jacket: Vintage (Shoreditch Market)

Black Ribbed Jumpsuit: New Look

So many giggles.

I can't quite believe I won't now see Hannah until August! She's away in The States working for the summer, so I best get planning a reunion for when she's home.

I hope that gives you some food and drink inspiration for when you're next in the city!
