Punting on the Avon
Updated: Aug 30, 2019
This last week we've been celebrating George's birthday. It always falls just before the bank holiday weekend, which means it usually jinxed and therefore rains! But this year, we've had nothing but blue skies.
We'd made plans to meet up with our friends in Stratford, and with the sun looking to shine we decided to book a punt take it out on the River Avon.
It is seriously one of the most fun filled afternoons we've ever had. I non-stopped laughed, catching up with our friends and waving to passers-by.
I booked through Avon Boating and they were great, their online booking system is easy peasy (there were eight of us so we needed a large Cambridge punt to fit us all in, but they also have smaller punts and rowing boats to choose from as well). Pre-booking isn't always necessary, you just turn up and queue, especially if you're in a couple or a small group.
We packed coolers full of cold drinks and suncream before we left the house, and took them out on the water with us.
Remember to pack your bottle opener, I've been there before!
The boys took turns punting, I think us girls were having too much fun nattering and snapping pictures.
Some people sunning themselves whilst others checked out the impressive riverside real estate.
Taking a wobble or two as we switched places!
The odd wasp buzzing by to check us out, but we kept our cool...
Making it safely back to the dock!
Happy Bank Holiday!
