If you're staying in or anywhere near Polperro I know of a great beach for you to check out. Fair warning there is a considerable set of stairs involved, but it's worth it!
It's owned by the National Trust so there's a car park to leave your wheels. And this beach allows dogs off lead all year round!
If you're headed out for the whole day, pack a picnic and enjoy it on the sand! Definitely pack your swimsuit too, the water here is turquoise and oh so inviting. Seeing as we've had such a hot summer there's the added bonus of warmer water too (relatively, this is the UK after all). I finally braved it and went in for a swim!
Spread your towel out and dry off in the sunshine. If you get here before mid-morning you're likely to have the place to yourselves for a while. We headed down for a few hours in the morning and then headed back to town for lunch (Cornish pasties all round - well earned after the hike back to the car).
It's worth noting there are two further National Trust bays/beaches just a stone's throw away (Lantivet and Lansallos - each with their own car parks). Perfect if you want to spend the day beach hopping, or you find one of them to be a little overcrowded. Slap on your suncream and enjoy some rays!
