Barcelona Part I
Updated: Apr 6, 2020
I'm back from a few days away in Barcelona with my girlfriends. We had a fantastic time, filled with lots of sunshine and sangria!
We flew in on Tuesday afternoon, and after a quick freshen up headed straight out for some tapas and drinks. We stumbled across a little gem of a bar just off La Rambla, Macareno Restobar has a good range of cocktails and a great playlist. It doesn't look much from outside, but we had a great time in here!
The next morning we were up early doors to head to Park Güell for soon after opening. It's worth getting here early as people swarm here to see the gorgeous mosaics and Gaudí architecture.
We enjoyed wandering around the monumental precinct, we recommend pre-booking tickets as they include an arrival time slot so you're not stuck in a long queue.
I think the buildings look like gingerbread houses! And the surrounding gardens are just stunning.
After exploring Park Güell we walked through the streets to find somewhere for lunch, and if you like tapas as much as we do you'll love Casa Vall.
Since we'd had a bit of an early start we headed back to our apartment to spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool. We stayed at Enjoy BCN which had a rooftop terrace with incredible views of Sagrada Familia, literally a stone's throw away.
The perfect place to catch some sun and cool off in the pool.
That evening we headed for dinner at Ocaña, a pretty little restaurant on Plaça Reial. They had great live music from a sax player, and fantastic burgers (our only break from tapas for the entire trip)!
After dinner we came across First Bar, it's just on the edge of the Gothic Quarter.
The entire inside of the bar is covered in post-it notes left by previous party goers. The live music was a great mix of cover songs from George Michael to Jake Owen.
I'll post more about our trip soon, but it's safe to say the Barcelona is one of our favourite cities, it's just so beautiful and the great Spanish food doesn't go amiss either!
