A Weekend in Ludlow
Updated: Apr 6, 2020
I’m jumping back a week for this blog post! It’s taken me a while to get through editing a lot of photos recently.
George and I were lucky enough to spend a weekend in a beautiful cottage in the middle of some stunning English Countryside. Made even better with some excellent company! We’ve been meaning to get away with our friends Emma, Luke, Lucy, Rob, Lianne and Ash for what seems like forever. Getting diaries together and co-ordinating dates meant we had the cottage booked nearly six months in advance.
We stayed at Jack’s Barn in the town of Ludlow, which despite excellent reviews still managed to blow us away.
The place is huge, with rolling views from every window. We spent the first evening catching up over G&Ts with a takeaway by the log burner. Heaven.
On the Saturday we decided to blow the cobwebs away and, despite the pretty dismal weather forecast, take a walk into town.
Our optimism paid off and we were treated to some sun. The rain even stayed away, although it was rather blustery!
We stopped at the market for some gin and fruit tasting.
And mooched around, trying to settle on where to have some lunch.
We decided to try The Charlton Arms and weren’t disappointed. There’s a lovely light and airy room out the back overlooking the River Teme, and an excellent wine list.
On the Saturday evening we all gathered together downstairs for a murder mystery party. I have hardly any photos of our costumes as I was too busy giggling at everyone’s accents and performances, but I can promise you it was a really good laugh. Lianne put it all together and sent us our invitations a few months ago so that we could get our outfits sorted. The theme was ‘death by chocolate’ (very suitable for the weekend after Easter!) and included some very dubious characters. It’s my first murder mystery party, and I’ll definitely be planning more, so much fun.

It was so good to get away and explore some of the wonderful English Countryside that we’re lucky to have just a short drive away. And if you’re looking for a cottage in the UK, Jack's Barn didn’t fall short.
Little shoutout to Emma who took some of the photos for this post! She's got a new camera and we had lots of fun snapping pics together all weekend.
