A Cheeky Sidecar

Due to the nature of my job (shiftwork), George's job (which sometimes involves travel) and the commitments of day to day life, G and I don't always get to spend weekends together. So when we do, we like to do something a bit different. Be it a day trip somewhere, a new place for coffee or a little cocktail hour at home in the evening. Last weekend we made Sidecars (a new one for us), so I thought I'd share our recipe!

Ingredients for one drink (multiply as necessary)

Two measures Cognac

One measure Cointreau

3/4 measure freshly squeezed lemon juice

Lemon wedge and granulated sugar to rim glass


Lemon twist to garnish

I like to serve in a champagne saucer.

  1. Use the wedge of lemon to moisten the rim of your glass

  2. Dip into the sugar until you've got good coverage.

  3. Pour the Cognac, Cointreau and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker and drop in a few ice cubes

  4. Shake well and strain into the glass

  5. Cut a strip of peel from the used lemon and twist to garnish

Sip sip, hooray!
